Case study: New York Life's India subsidiary System Integration Testing


Max New York Life undertook implementation of Ingenium, and several additional collaborative system for collection management, agency management compensation & incentives, workflow system, interfaces for near real time updates to agency through SMS, Palm, Reporting & OLAP system and Financial accounting system. All these systems needed to be integrated and tested for integrity and data migration from existing system. In addition, there were significant customization and process flows done for Max New York Life, which also needed to be validated.


Comprehensive unit, system integration & performance testing for Ingenium Life Insurance, agency, collection, sales & workflow systems including

A team of consultants planned out a way to simulate the business operations for 5 years. This covered all phases of the policy, from new business to maturity. This cradle-to-grave simulation approach went through all types of new business processes with all possible variations for underwriting, through lapses and renewals, through disability, waivers, death or maturity. Daily, fortnightly, month-end and year-end batch jobs were also covered. For each transaction - triggered either manually or by batch, the consequences for the policy, for the owner, for the agent, the outgoing documents, and the internal accounting were identified. Impact on reporting and analytics were also identified.

A plan was made for executing these transactions across all the transaction systems: INGENIUM, the Agency admin system, the Collections systems, the Financial accounting system, the Workflow system. Impact on all related systems and outputs were identified and tested.

This acceptance testing provides the basis for ensuring that Max New York Life could go live on a major change across all its operational systems in a big-bang fashion.
