Project : IT Strategy Definition & IT Road Map

Ing Vysya Life Insurance (Ing) required assistance to identify the roadmap for the next 1-2 years, based on current knowledge about the issues facing the company today, and the issues likely to be faced over the next 1-2 years.

Ibexi used a 3-stage approach. The first step was a brainstorming session to identify all the current issues and likely future issues within a medium time frame of 1-2 years. This produced a "laundry list of issues". The second step was to group these issues into broader categories, based on the relationship between the issues, and the likely root causes. The third step was to identify possible solutions for resolving the category of issues, with tentative ideas of the timeframe of implementation.

Project : Datawarehouse & Business Intelligence

Ing Vysya Life Insurance (Ing) is using a Cobol based Core Life insurance package supported by ancillary systems like a General Ledger & a Sales Activity Management System (SAMS) among others. These systems provide only a basic inflexible reporting output and users required a more responsive MIS system.

Ing commissioned Ibexi to provide a datawarehouse from which its users could access and build summary and detailed reports. These reports may have ability to drill down to see details and detailed reports covering standard & ad-hoc requirements with or without ability to drill down or up.

Ibexi built a staging database on the SQL Server reliable RDBMS platform. This staging database is an almost exact replica of schema in the core system from Ing OLTP systems Life400, SunGL, & SAMS. Data from these core systems is loaded into staging database at periodic intervals as per business requirements and resource position. Reporting and analytic tools connecting to this staging database were provided thus reducing the dependence on core systems and speeding up report generation process.
